My mom wrote this for my Nannie! It was one year ago today that we celebrated her HOME GOING!
I Miss You Mama!
Oh how I miss talking to you so many times a day.
This month without you will never again seem like May.
We were blessed to be able to have you for your ninetieth year
Because your home going day was so very near.
God in his Infinite Mercy was so very good.
You went quickly and didn’t suffer as many would.
We know that your prayer had always been
You would be home and surrounded by your family ‘til the end.
The rockers on the front porch are so very still
But I know it is all part of our Master’s perfect will.
For you are in heaven and it is easy for us to see
You are rocking there with daddy and happy as can be.
Time after time we picked up the phone to call
Only to remember, you really aren’t there at all.
So many sad things happening with us this year
It’s upsetting to know we can’t call you and you can’t hear.
The day was sad when we sold our earthly home
But we know one day we will be together around His throne.
Time won’t erase our family memories you see.
They are always in the heart of Ray, Faye and me.
The grandchildren have all grown so much during this past year,
Knowing about their accomplishments would have you cheer!
We know what their Grandmother’s earnest plea would be
Be good and be faithful so one day you will again see me!
This first year without you seems a hundred times longer.
A million questions we need to ask and the urge is getting stronger.
It is still hard to understand and believe you are away
Especially with the flowers, strawberries, and sunshine in May.
I know you are celebrating this anniversary of the day you went away
With Jesus and Daddy and that is where you will stay.
Happy Birthday, Happy Mother’s Day and remember our plea
Everyone thanks God for their Guardian Angel, especially me!
